In 1993, the business, but not the chapels, was sold to Prime, a large Funeral Home conglomerate. In 1978, Jim Rush took sole ownership of the North Ocoee and Wildwood Avenue Chapels. The name of the business then became the Buckner Rush Funeral Homes. Buckner sold the business to a Houston, Texas conglomerate in 1973, and Jim stayed on until 1977 when he and Ralph Buckner, Jr. Back then, Jim worked for Ralph Buckner, Sr. For the majority of those years, since 1963, Jim Rush has been there. Ella Sue was a member of the North Cleveland Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. Her favorite destination was London and she loved visiting William Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon. One of her trips to Europe, she took a bus 1,263 miles from Rome to Paris. ![]() Her travels included two trips around the world, several trips to Europe, Australia, Costa Rica and Hawaii. Besides teaching, Ella Sue enjoyed shopping and traveling. She cherished each and everyone of her students! Later in life, she would ask everyone she met where they attended high school and if she had taught them. Many of her former students refer to her as "their favorite teacher". Miss Osment taught junior and senior English at Bradley Central High School for 30 years, from 1969 until 1999. She was very excited to visit Anne Frank's home in Amsterdam and the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. In 1977, she took a select group of seniors on a tour of Europe, including, Belgium, Amsterdam and Paris, France. Miss Osment loved teaching Shakespeare and Science Fiction. With bittersweet emotions, she transferred to the new Bradley Central High School in the fall of 1972. She started her teaching profession at the old Bradley High School in the fall of 1969. Ella Sue, a long time educator, attended Lee College and Carson Newman College and graduated from Lee College (Lee University), in the spring of 1969. Ella Sue Osment, 74, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, Decemat the family residence.Įlla Sue was born in Cleveland and she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Nell Benton Osment and Clyde Arnold Osment.
